IIT Hyderabad and the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) collaborated to create a 3D-printed prosthetic cornea, which was then implanted into a rabbit eye.

It is the first 3-D printed human cornea developed in India that is optically and physiologically appropriate for transplantation.

It is entirely natural and has no synthetic ingredients. It has no animal residue and is fully safe to use.

IITH and CCMB employed decellularized corneal tissue matrix and stem cells taken from the human eye to create this 3D-printed artificial cornea.

Because the 3D-printed cornea is made of human corneal tissue, it is biocompatible and natural.

This breakthrough will aid in the treatment of disorders such as corneal scarring.
