At the Red Fort in Delhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru raised the Indian National Flag for the first time.<br><br>This day marks the beginning of a new era following more than 200 years of British colonisation.<br><br>Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Bhagat Singh, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Subhas Chandra Bose, and others were important figures in India&#8217;s liberation movement.<br><br>The first war for independence began in 1857. Mangal Pandey initiated it.<br><br>The Indian National Flag was established on July 22, 1947. Rabindranath Tagore wrote India&#8217;s national hymn.<br><br>The British parliament enacted the Indian Independence Act in 1947.
