Since 1998, there has been a moratorium. India originally disagreed with the prolongation.

Although the ban won’t end until the subsequent Ministerial Conference, it will, on March 31, 2024.

WTO Reforms:

By 2024, the WTO plans to have discussions on a dispute resolution mechanism that is fully operational.

Although there is disagreement about the specific reforms needed, all WTO members concur that it has to be changed.

Food Security:

WTO members decided formally not to impose export restrictions to the World Food Programme (WFP).

Pandemic Response: For a five-year period, developing nations may permit the manufacturing and delivery of an invention covered by a patent without the patent holder’s permission.

It is not necessary for the manufacturing to be primarily for the home market. As a result, more exports are allowed to guarantee equal access.
