| The Jammu and Kashmir government has authorised the Village Defense Guard Scheme (VDGS) 2022. The initiative was designed to prevent terrorist attacks inspired and sponsored from across the border, as well as to strengthen the Union Territory’s security grid. The programme went into force on August 15, 2022, and it may have a good influence. The Ministry of Home Affairs has given its permission for the development of this plan. The scheme’s goal is to recruit a small group of volunteer armed people in specified border villages to instil the spirit of self-defense for community security. Each squad will have a maximum of 15 people designated as “Village Defense Guards” (VDGs). Each organisation will be called the “Village Defense Group,” and it will be led by a retired officer from the Army, the CPMF, or the J&K Police. The Village Defense Guard (VDG) will be split into two groups: Persons in the V1 category will be in charge of directing and organising the Village Defence Guards in “particularly susceptible locations,” and they would be paid Rs 4500 per month.
