12. State the orders that may be passed regarding juveniles by the JJ Board.
- Orders under Section 18: The Juvenile Justice Board can issue orders under Section 18 for the rehabilitation and reintegration of the juvenile.
- Go Home After Counselling: It may direct the juvenile to go home after counselling, admonition, or advice.
- Group Counselling: The Board can order the juvenile to attend group counselling or similar rehabilitation activities.
- Community Service: The Board may direct the juvenile to perform community service under supervision.
- Payment of Fine: It can order the juvenile or their parents/guardians to pay a fine, ensuring it doesn’t violate labour laws.
- Release on Probation: The Board can release the juvenile on probation, either with or without surety, for a period not exceeding three years.
- Supervision of Fit Person or Facility: It can place the juvenile under the supervision of a fit person or facility for reform and care.
- Special Home: The Board can send the juvenile to a special home for a period not exceeding three years for education, skill development, and therapy.
- Place of Safety: It can also send the juvenile to a place of safety if the special home is unsuitable for the juvenile’s needs.
- School, Vocational Training, or Therapeutic Centre: The Board may direct the juvenile to attend school, vocational training, or a therapeutic centre.
- Case Law – Krishan Kumar v. State of Haryana (2018): The Board ordered a juvenile to attend a vocational training centre after a minor offence.
- Case Law – Anil v. State (2020): The Board directed the juvenile to be placed in a special home for psychiatric therapy and behaviour modification.
